As part of our efforts to contribute to the growth of the maritime shipping business, we’ve become a key player in our regional industry. We’ve developed a streamlined, exceptional work process and continue to grow as we achieve consistency and reliability in exceeding customer expectations.
Waruna started as a shipyard business in the year 1990. During those early years, the shipyard was mostly known and relied upon for its ship repair services. Eventually, it grew into a shipbuilding services for countries throughout the region. After several more years, in an effort to meet its customers’ needs, Waruna augmented segments of its business to incorporate a full suite of shipping services.
In 1995, Waruna took over ownership of Harbour Tug then expanded to Tankers shortly thereafter. The company then began serving customers with its first small Tanker in 1996.
The first dockyard with a capacity of up to 7,000 DWT followed by dock 2 and 3 was launched in 1998. A larger dock was added four years later in 2002. The dock facilities were enlarged further to the fifth and sixth dry-docks completed in 2008.

Waruna continues to transform and evolve to adapt to new business models and regulation requirements in the competitive maritime shipping industry. We strive to ensure good corporate governance, further develop our team, keep our vessels in top shape, and improve our internal processes and performance. We constantly encourage ourselves to assess our own safety management systems in order to ensure the highest standards for team safety. In 2019, we launched a new dry-dock that could accommodate up to 120,000 DWT. It has become one of our greatest achievements to date.
